Skirmish - May 2008
Outdoor laserquest event

We did a survey with each patrol some time ago. We asked them to list activities that they had enjoyed, those they did not enjoy and ones that they would like to do in the future.

Every patrol wanted to go Paintballing. Unfortunately the Scout Association does not permit us to take part in this activity, so we did an outdoor laser event instead.

We took 24 Scouts to Skirmish Paintballing near High Wycombe. We used laser guns.

After some techy talk on how to use the equipment, it was time to let the battle commence!

All the Scouts enjoyed the evening and for the 6 accompanying adults it was a stress free evening (apart that is from the notable loss of a £1coin by Graham, sorry David but I couldn't resist the temptation). They even had a cafe window where we could buy tea, coffee and snacks etc.

Several of the scouts asked when we would do this event again. They obviously enjoyed it and it is probably a rare opportunity to take part in an event like this with a large group of people that you know.

The answer is however simple. We try to give a range of experiences to the Scouts whilst they are with us. This means that in the life of a Scout (3 years), it is unlikely that we will repeat an event which is exactly like this.
